WPM ltd 010 - NAMITO
Imagine you had a time machine capable of delivering you to some of the great moments of dance music’s past. Where would you go? How about dropping in on 1974 for one of David Mancuso’s legendary Loft parties? Or some time around 1989, for a proper rave-up in a muddy field just off the M25? Or… what about Berlin in 1994, following the fall of the wall, where the city was alive with the people’s new found freedom, and newly acquired love of techno?
Well, that’s where you would have spotted Namito earning his DJ stripes, at the legendary clubs Tresor and E-Werk - and needless to say, we’re somewhat jealous. We think we can hear a bit of the influence of that early Berlin techno sound in Namito’s WPM ltd mix, as combining chugging rhythms with strobing synths, it seems to radiate a certain techy warmth that’s often missing from today’s minimal styled mixes.
Aside from working as club DJ, Namito was quick to move into production, and released his first tracks way back in 1996. More recently, alongside his own quality tunes, Namito has also produced a series of killer collaborations with Martin Eyerer on labels like Great Stuff, Kling Klong, Systematic and Boxer Recordings.
